About the Role

Emerald Clinical is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Country Head to lead our operations in China. This senior leadership role will oversee all aspects of clinical and project delivery in the country while also playing a key role in business development and regional growth strategy.

This role is designed for a hands-on operational leader with a proven track record in clinical trial delivery and client engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships within the Chinese biotech and pharma ecosystem and bring significant expertise in scaling operations within a global CRO or life sciences environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the full scope of operations in China, including clinical delivery, project execution, and commercial support
• Act as a key contributor to global business development efforts, actively supporting sales targets and representing China in bids and client meetings
• Lead high-performing teams across clinical and operational functions, ensuring alignment with company strategy and local execution excellence
• Foster trusted relationships with sponsors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
• Drive continuous improvement in delivery standards, team development, and customer satisfaction
• Partner with global functions to bring operational insights to planning, budgeting, and growth discussions
• Represent Emerald Clinical at external events and support brand visibility across China
• Ensure rigorous tracking of performance metrics, financial targets, and resource planning


About You

• 15+ years of leadership experience in clinical research, with a strong focus on operational delivery
• Strong knowledge of China’s clinical trial and regulatory environment
• Proven success leading delivery teams within a CRO or life sciences organization
• Track record of client engagement and commercial support within biotech and pharma
• Business development mindset with the ability to represent the region in growth discussions
• Fluent in Mandarin
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
